APRU Pacific Ocean Program -
Engaging Conversation on Ocean and Social Equity
About this webinar:
Given the recent social concerns on equity and justice in the United States, it is important for academics to understand how we shall approach environmental issues with a social equity lens.
In this webinar, you will be engaged in a conversation about issues on marine environment and social equity. In particular, we will unpack issues of oceans and their societal implications, which are often left out due to the non-residential characteristics of oceans.
This session will also introduce the Ocean Nexus Center, the newly established interdisciplinary research institute at the University of Washington, and discuss how a trans-institutional network of social and natural science can approach the complex socio-ecological system, which are transboundary in nature. The Ocean Nexus Center will also direct and guide the focus of the APRU Pacific Ocean Program going forward.
All faculty and students are welcome. Academics who are interested in marine management and ocean governance will benefit most from this session.
